Privacy Policy

The short version: Galdr processes your audio and transcripts on your Mac. They are never sent to us or to anyone else. We have no Galdr account system, no analytics, and no crash reporting. The few network requests Galdr makes are listed below; none of them contains your recordings or text.

What stays on your Mac

Everything you create with Galdr — recordings, meeting audio, transcripts, cleaned versions, translations, summaries, custom terms, replacement rules, and settings — is stored and processed only on your Mac, in its local storage or a folder you choose. Speech recognition, speaker separation, cleanup (Apple Intelligence), translation (Apple Translation), and summaries (a local model) all run on the device. We cannot see, access, or recover this data.

Network requests the app makes

Model downloads. When you click Download, Galdr fetches speech, speaker, and summary models from Hugging Face (huggingface.co) or from our own server at galdr.pro. The server sees your IP address and the file requested, as with any download.
Update checks. Galdr checks updates.galdr.pro for new versions and downloads updates from there. These requests carry your IP address and the app version, nothing else. You can turn automatic checks off in Settings → About.
License activation and checks. When you enter a license key, Galdr sends the key, your Mac’s name, and an activation ID to Polar’s license service to activate it, and checks it again at most once a day. This is how one key works on up to three Macs. Your recordings and text are never part of it.

Apple’s own services used by Galdr (Apple Intelligence and Apple Translation language downloads) are governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

Purchases

Galdr is sold by Polar Software, Inc. (“Polar”), which acts as the merchant of record: it runs the checkout, processes your payment, handles taxes, issues receipts, and delivers your license key by email. Polar processes your name, email address, billing details, and payment information under its own privacy policy. We receive from Polar the order details we need to support you: your name, email address, country, what you bought, and your license key and its activations. We never see your card details.

This website

galdr.pro is a static site served by Cloudflare. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request data to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, under Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Support email

If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to answer you, and keep the conversation for as long as needed to help you and for our records (usually no longer than three years).

Service providers

We rely on these providers, each acting under its own privacy policy or data processing terms: Polar (sales, license keys), Cloudflare (website, update and model downloads), Hugging Face (model downloads), and our email provider (support email). Where one of them processes data outside the European Economic Area, the safeguards required by the GDPR, such as standard contractual clauses, apply.

We don’t sell your personal data, don’t use it for advertising, and don’t make automated decisions about you.

Legal bases

We process purchase and license data to perform our contract with you (providing the license), and support emails and site security data on the basis of our legitimate interest in helping you and running a safe service. Tax and accounting records are kept as the law requires.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you, object to or restrict its processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Write to support@galdr.pro. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority — in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos.

Children

Galdr is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
